The Snowy Mountains
The Lake Eucumbene Chamber of Commerce is located in Australia's High Country in the Snowy River Shire local government area which is one of the fastest growing areas in NSW. Based on 2001 Census figures the Shire's growth rate (in terms of permanent residents) is 3.4% per year. This figure is twice the NSW average.
The Eucumbene region is in the northern part of the Snowy River Shire and close to the northern section of the Kosciusko National Park.


Murrumbidgee River
Adaminaby is the main town in the northern part of the Eucumbene region. It is very close to and provides services to the townships of Old Adaminaby and Anglers Reach.
The population is 465 (Source ABS) and is growing. There has been a 27% increase since 1997.
Since May 2006 Adaminaby has enjoyed a new water system which supplies the town with pure, fresh water from Lake Eucumbene.

  2. ADAMINABY:
    • ABS figures demonstrate that proportionally Adaminaby has the largest number of residents under 14 and that is amongst the highest of any town in NSW.
    • Since its new water system has been commissioned opportunities for development are expanding.
    • A small airfield which hosts an active club offers landing facilities for small aircraft.
    • New families are moving into the town and the numbers at the school are growing.
  3. Other significant towns in this Shire are Berridale, Thredbo, Jindabyne and Dalgety.
  4. COOMA is the nearest large service town to the northern end of the Lake Eucumbene region and the northern Kosciusko National Park. Its population is over 9,200 and is a 35-40 minute drive from Adaminaby along the Snowy Mountains Highway. It is located in the neighbouring Shire of Cooma-Monaro.
ACCESS to the northern areas of the Kosciousko National Park from CANBERRA:
  1. 90 minutes along the Bobeyan Road via Tharwa and Shannons Flat. There is 40 km of unsealed surface but its condition is very good. The scenery is SPECTACULAR.
  2. A total of 2 hours down the Monaro Highway past Michelago, through Cooma then turn right along the Snowy Mountains Highway.
