  • THINGS TO DO IN ADAMINABY:

    1. See the 2 unique, hand-made, 9x4 metre STAGE CURTAINS

The unique Hall Curtains These are located in the historic, century old Adaminaby Memorial Hall and School of Arts which was moved from the Old Town. They tell the story of the area in four distinct seasons chronologically from its earliest days to the present. They were worked in many different materials using many artistic techniques.
It's Story: The design was created by two local artists. The original sketch was adapted and painted onto heavy plain cotton twill and then predominantly recyled materials were used to create this masterpiece. These curtains are now a recognized community asset and work of art. They were created over two and a half years by an ad-hoc community group which got together especially for this purpose. Everyone in the Adaminaby township was involved in one capacity or another. The youngest person was about five and attended the Adaminaby Public School and the oldest was over eighty. The work started late in 2002 and the official opening ceremony took place on Monday 19th May 2005 and the Governor of NSW, Prof. Marie Bashir officiated.
